After months of leaks and anticipation following the launch of the Galaxy S24 series earlier this year, the long-awaited Fan Edition version has finally been unveiled. Although the Galaxy S24 FE is Samsung’s latest phone and brings many new features compared to its predecessor, it unfortunately falls short in the display department when compared to the standard Galaxy S24. Here are the details about the Galaxy S24 FE…
The Galaxy S24 FE’s display isn’t as bright as the Galaxy S24
Samsung’s new Fan Edition model comes with some compromises when compared to the Galaxy S24. The S24 FE has a larger screen than the Galaxy S23 FE, offering a 6.7-inch display that provides a decent experience. Additionally, the maximum brightness has been increased from 1450 nits on the S23 FE to 1900 nits on the new device. However, it still doesn’t match the brightness of the standard version in the series.
Even though the S24 FE’s 6.7-inch screen places it in the same category as the S24+ model, it still can’t reach the brightness level of the standard version, the Galaxy S24, which can hit a peak of 2600 nits. In comparison, the S24 FE’s 1900 nits lag significantly behind.
The reason for this is the Galaxy S24 FE’s use of a non-LTPO OLED panel, which can achieve a refresh rate between 60Hz and 120Hz. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ use LTPO OLED displays that offer a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, delivering a smoother experience.
While this may not make much of a difference in everyday use and still provides better performance than lower-tier models, you will notice the distinction if you compare the new Galaxy S24 FE side by side with the rest of the S24 series.
