Hyundai is showcasing its long-rumored compact electric vehicle, the Ioniq 2, at the IAA Mobility Fair in Munich next month. More importantly, this new vehicle will be produced at its Izmit factory in Turkey. This will be Hyundai’s first electric car to be produced in Turkey.
The Hyundai Ioniq 2 is coming soon
The Ioniq 2 will compete directly with models such as the Renault 5, Peugeot e-208, and VW ID.2. It is expected to go on sale in the third quarter of 2026.

The Hyundai Ioniq 2 shares a platform with the EV2 model from its sister brand, Kia. Filling the gap between the Inster and Kona Electric in the brand’s product lineup, the vehicle has dimensions similar to the internal combustion-engined Bayon model.
The technical details of the Ioniq 2, built on the Hyundai Group’s scalable E-GMP platform, have not yet been released. However, the Kia EV3 is expected to offer a range of over 400 kilometers with its 58.3 kWh battery option.
The new model’s interior aims to enhance the user experience. The new infotainment system changes the ambient lighting and audio experience based on the driving mode or selected style. Furthermore, as in the EV2, the instrument cluster and infotainment screen are designed as a single, large screen, occupying approximately half of the cockpit.
IAA Mobility 2025 takes place from September 9-14. We’re likely to see the Hyundai Ioniq 2 during this time. So, what do you think of this vehicle? Feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
