As it is known, Apple typically includes the previous-generation processor in its base models of the iPhone series. For example, while the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus have the A16 Bionic chip, the 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max models are powered by the A17 Pro.
It appears that Apple is changing this practice. According to information shared by the renowned analyst Jeff Pu, known for reliable leaks in the smartphone market, Apple will use the A18 processor in all models of the iPhone 16 series set to debut next year.
The iPhone 16 family will be powered by the Apple A18 processor
In other words, the usual practice of having the previous-generation processor in base models will no longer apply. Rumor has it that the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will feature the A18 chip, while the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max models will have the A18 Pro processor.
According to the source, Apple’s A18 processor will undergo TSMC’s 3 nm fabrication process. It is expected to be more cost-effective compared to the previous A17 Pro while offering higher performance. Of course, it’s worth noting that all this information is based on leaks, so there is a possibility that the leaks may not be accurate.
Additionally, there is another significant leak about the iPhone 16 series. This leak suggests that all models in the series will feature displays with a 120 Hz refresh rate. Until now, Apple had been using 60 Hz displays in its standard models.
