The iPhone 17 Air, one of the most striking additions to Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series in September, has been spotted live for the first time in Sky Blue. Until now, the model’s exterior design, which has only been discussed in technical details, has been revealed with a new leaked mockup video. The images offer the first concrete clues about what Apple’s thinnest iPhone yet will look like.
iPhone 17 Air Revealed
The iPhone 17 Air’s thickness ranges from 5.65 mm to 5.7 mm. This measurement makes it Apple’s thinnest phone. While the ultra-thin form factor allows the device to sit more elegantly in the hand, it also comes with some hardware limitations. According to previous leaks, this model will feature only a single rear camera. Battery capacity is expected to be around 2,900 mAh.
The thinness-focused design also requires some compromises in the display and connectivity technologies. The iPhone 17 Air will not feature ProMotion display refresh technology. Similarly, mmWave 5G support is also not included in this model. It’s also been reported that the device will not feature a dual-speaker system. This entire hardware setup will be accompanied by an A19 Pro processor with a lowered GPU performance.
The color option, introduced as Sky Blue, is offered in a more saturated tone than the classic light blue. The leaked mockup video directly shows how this color will appear on the device. It’s believed Apple is aiming to give the series a distinct visual identity with this hue.
The iPhone 17 Air is positioned as a replacement for Apple’s 17 Plus. It will be unveiled alongside the other series members, the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, at a special launch event expected to be held on September 9th.
