Apple unveiled the new iPhone 17 series at an event it dubbed “Awe Dropping.” Among the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max models, the iPhone 17 Pro Max stands out as the most striking and powerful. This new model features several differences compared to the previous-generation iPhone 16 Pro Max.
iPhone 17 Pro Max vs. iPhone 16 Pro Max
The iPhone 17 Pro Max features a significant design change. The phone features a larger camera housing on the back, extending sideways. This design offers a distinct look compared to previous models. There’s also a change in size. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is 8.25 mm thick, while the new model is thicker at 8.75 mm and heavier due to the larger battery.
The body material has also changed. While the iPhone 16 Pro Max uses titanium, the iPhone 17 Pro Max has switched to aluminum. Color options have also changed. The iPhone 16 Pro Max’s Black, White, Natural, and Desert Titanium colors have been replaced by Cosmic Orange, Abyss, and Silver on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
There are no major changes to the display. The iPhone 17 Pro Max features a 6.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with 120Hz ProMotion technology, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro Max. However, the maximum brightness has increased from 2,000 nits to 3,000 nits.
There are significant improvements in the camera department. Apple has finally upgraded the periscope camera to a higher resolution. The 12MP periscope camera on the iPhone 16 Pro Max has now reached 48MP resolution on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, just like the other rear cameras.
This makes switching between cameras much smoother. Optical zoom has also increased from 5x to 8x. In addition to the rear cameras, the front camera also features a new feature. The 12MP front camera has been increased to 24MP in the new model. This improves both photo and video quality.
In terms of performance, the iPhone 17 Pro Max uses Apple’s third-generation 3nm chipset, the A19 Pro processor. This processor delivers up to 40% better sustained performance than the A18 Pro. While there isn’t a significant difference in architecture between the two processors, the increase in RAM capacity is a significant detail.
The new model has 12GB of RAM, compared to the 8GB of RAM in the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This increase improves multitasking capabilities and the speed of Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence features.
There are also improvements in battery and charging. The iPhone 17 Pro Max has a larger battery. Its 5,088mAh capacity surpasses the 4,685mAh battery in the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
This increases video playback time from 33 hours to 37 hours, and online video streaming time from 29 hours to 33 hours. Charging speeds have also changed. The new model reaches 50% charge in 20 minutes, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max takes 35 minutes.
Looking at the latest pricing, the iPhone 16 Pro Max launched at 99,999 TL, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max is priced at 119,999 TL. There’s a price difference of 20,000 TL between the two models.
