Apple is preparing to make a significant change in the memory infrastructure of the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Pro models. According to the latest information, the company will switch to a six-channel RAM architecture in the new iPhone series that it will launch in 2025.
The iPhone 18 series will offer new RAM technology
This structure will provide significant gains especially in terms of artificial intelligence operations, mobile games and multitasking performance. The six-channel memory design has been used mainly in server systems that require high bandwidth until now.

The new structure will accelerate the data flow between the DRAM and the memory controller, providing a significant performance increase even with the current LPDDR5X technology. Apple’s integration of this architecture into mobile devices could make the iPhone 18 series more powerful, especially for applications that work intensively in the background.
It is stated that the entire iPhone 18 series will include 12 GB of RAM. Due to supply problems experienced in the iPhone 17 series, this RAM level was only available in three models. However, it was stated that the real improvement in performance will be due to the change to be made in the architecture rather than the memory capacity.
On the other hand, it is reported that Apple will not switch to a more up-to-date memory standard, LPDDR6, with this new architecture, and will continue with the current LPDDR5X technology. This may be a disadvantage when compared to chipsets such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite, which will come with LPDDR6 support on the Android side.
Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 series in the fall of 2025. So what do you think about this? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
