Apple’s first foldable iPhone model is having a significant impact on the company’s sales forecasts even before its release. Analysts predict that this model, dubbed the “iPhone Fold,” will significantly increase iPhone shipments in 2027 and beyond. However, the foldable device’s expected release date has been postponed.
iPhone Fold to Exceed Expectations
A report published by the Financial Times reveals that Apple is entering its strongest period of post-pandemic growth in iPhone revenue. The company’s iPhone revenue in fiscal 2025 is expected to reach $209.3 billion, a 4 percent increase. This figure is expected to rise to $218.9 billion in fiscal 2026.

But the most striking aspect of the report is its forecasts for 2027 and beyond. According to the report, Apple will ship a total of 240 million iPhones in 2027. Analysts directly point to the foldable iPhone as the primary driver of this shipment increase. The company’s current annual iPhone shipments are currently around 235 million.
According to this schedule, Apple will release the iPhone 18 series in the fall of 2026. The foldable model is expected to be available in the first quarter of 2027. This release delay has been reflected in financial forecasts and investor expectations.
Therefore, Apple’s foldable phone strategy not only creates a new device category but also supports the company’s long-term goal of reaccelerating hardware sales. Tech insiders are also speculating that the model’s production will feature features such as a titanium hinge, flexible OLED display technology, and a Touch ID-based authentication system.
