HBO has given official approval for the third season of The Last of Us. With this decision taken days before the second season of the series was broadcast, the channel took a clear step towards the future of the project. The Last of Us returns to screens with its second season starting on 13 April.
The Last of Us is coming with its 3rd season
Released in 2023, The Last of Us, which achieved great success with its first season and became one of HBO’s most watched productions, stayed away from the screens for more than two years after the first season.

Despite this, the series did not lose anything from the audience interest. HBO’s approval for the third season before the second season revealed that this intense interest was strongly felt by the broadcaster.
Series creators Neil Druckmann and Craig Mazin have previously stated that they intend to complete The Last of Us story in a four-season plan. This early approval for the third season is seen as an important step in the realisation of this plan.
The second season will begin with a five-year time jump in the story. According to the trailer shared by HBO, the peaceful years following the events of the first season are coming to an end. The new season will bring Joel and Ellie’s confrontation with their past and their struggle with threats in the outside world.
The second season of The Last of Us will air on HBO screens on 13 April. No official announcement has been made regarding the production schedule of the third season. So what do you think about this issue? You can share your opinions with us in the comments section below.
