Amazon Prime Video continues to expand its original production line in Turkey and has introduced a new domestic action film to viewers. Starring popular names like Barış Arduç and Tuba Büyüküstün, “Dehşet Bey” is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
Dehşet Bey Reached Out
While the platform doesn’t boast as extensive a domestic content production as Netflix, it occasionally produces notable local projects; the first example was the 2023 film “Rüyanda Görürsün,” and now it’s bringing this new film to audiences.
“Dehşet Bey,” which masterfully blends action and romance, features a cast including the lead roles, along with veteran actors such as Yıldıray Şahinler, Musa Uzunlar, Saygın Soysal, Onur Özaydın, and Dolunay Soysert. The film is directed by Mehmet Ada Öztekin, who has directed successful films such as “Miracle in Cell No. 7.”
Billed as a “local John Wick” by producer Saner Ayar, “Dehşet Bey” has been adapted for the big screen from the comic book of the same name. Written by Murat Menteş and illustrated by Kutlukhan Perker, the comic’s screenplay was also adapted by Murat Menteş.
The film centers on Dehşet Bey, played by Barış Arduç, one of the most ruthless assassins of a mysterious organization called the Fedailer Ocağı (Fellow Fedailer Ocak). The organization’s strict rules strictly forbid love and marriage.
However, the arrival of Dehşet Bey, played by Abide Tuba Büyüküstün, a doctor who enters his life, fundamentally disrupts his long-standing order. This crucial encounter initiates a dramatic period of self-reflection, leading the protagonist to make a difficult choice between his loyalty to the organization’s rules and the natural voice of his heart.
