WhatsApp continues to develop its popular messaging platform, which boasts billions of users worldwide. Meta has finally begun testing a long-awaited feature for iPhone users. The latest beta, released on TestFlight, revealed that the app offers multi-account support. This new feature will allow users to manage multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single iPhone.
The era of two WhatsApp accounts begins on iPhone: Beta version released
Previously, users had to download the WhatsApp Business app or resort to various unreliable workarounds to use a second account on the same device. The update, discovered by WABetaInfo, completely changes this process. Thanks to the new “Account List” section in the Settings menu or the dedicated button next to the QR code, users will be able to add a new account directly from within the app without needing a secondary device. This move is also part of the app’s transition to supporting usernames instead of just phone numbers.

In its current beta, WhatsApp currently allows a maximum of two accounts to work synchronously. This new account can be a new number that has never been used before, or an existing account active on another device. Thanks to “companion mode,” users can connect their accounts on another phone to their iPhones by scanning a QR code, automatically syncing messages with the main device. This flexible structure makes managing multiple numbers from a single interface highly efficient and practical.
One of the most important features of the feature is the separate settings structure that prevents account confusion. Each account will have its own custom preferences, such as chat history, backup configuration, and notification sounds. This means that any setting changes you make to one account will not affect the other, and users will be clearly shown which account the message originated from in notifications. While an official release date hasn’t been announced yet, the fact that testing is well underway suggests the feature will be available to all users very soon.
This update will be particularly useful for iPhone owners who want to separate their work and private lines but don’t want to carry two different phones. This feature, which has been available in the Android ecosystem or through various methods for years, could change communication habits if it’s brought natively to iOS. So, what are your thoughts on this new feature? Do you find yourself needing to use two different WhatsApp accounts on the same phone in your daily or business life?
