Mercedes is expanding its G-Class family. The company is preparing to bring back the convertible Cabriolet version of the iconic G-Class. This move was long-awaited, especially given the model’s immense popularity in the American market.
The G-Class Cabriolet is making a comeback
No detailed information has been released yet. However, the first teaser image shows the convertible top starting just behind the A-pillar. The longer roofline compared to the outgoing G-Class Cabriolet suggests a four-door version. This is further supported by the fact that the current G-Class is only available as a four-door model.

The new convertible is expected to offer the same engine options as the standard G-Class. These options include a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine producing 443 horsepower and 559 Nm of torque, and a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine producing 577 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque.
An EQ version with four electric motors and a 116 kWh battery pack is also available. This system produces 579 horsepower and 1,163 Nm of torque in the standard model.
The model is expected to be available in many markets, including the US. Its debut will be at the Munich Motor Show next week, with a market launch planned for 2026.
