Although Nintendo has not yet made an official announcement, details about the Switch 2 model are becoming clearer every day. Among the recently leaked information, there were many visual details such as the design of the device, Joy-Cons and dock features. However, the most curious is the hardware power and innovative technologies of the device. Leaked motherboard images offer important clues in this regard. Details are in our news…
Nintendo Switch 2: will offer a performance between PS4 and PS4 Pro!
According to the motherboard images, we can say that the Switch 2’s two main hardware features stand out: 12 GB of RAM and an 8 nm Nvidia SoC (system chip). The RAM is configured in two modules of 6 GB each. In other words, this is a powerful memory capacity in line with today’s standards. The Nvidia SoC at the heart of the device was developed with Samsung’s 8 nm manufacturing process.
We think the chip in question is an Orin chip codenamed T234, a special version that appeared in Nvidia’s database in 2022. This chip stands out with its 8-core Cortex-A78/AE/C processor, Ampere GPU architecture with 2048 CUDA cores and 64 Tensor cores. It also supports the latest Nvidia technologies such as Ray Tracing and DLSS 2.2.
The Switch 2’s hardware is slightly more powerful than the PlayStation 4, but it doesn’t seem to be able to fully catch up with the PS4 Pro. Thanks to the upgraded graphics with DLSS technology, it is stated that higher performance will be provided, especially in dock mode. In other words, the device can offer a GPU performance between 2 and 3 TFLOPS.
Although the 4 nm manufacturing process disappoints some, Nintendo continues to adopt a balanced approach between hardware and manufacturing costs. If these technical details are accurate, Switch 2 will be a huge leap forward compared to the first generation Switch.
The Switch’s Tegra X1 processor had Snapdragon 810-level hardware, and its Maxwell GPU had 256 CUDA cores. In this context, Switch 2 is sure to be much better adapted to modern games. What do you think about this? You can write your opinions in the comments section below…
