Jeep is returning to the SUV market. The company has introduced its established model, the Cherokee, with a completely new design. Launching in the 2026 model year, the new Cherokee stands out with its larger dimensions, hybrid powertrain, and modern technologies.
The New-Generation Jeep Cherokee is Coming
The new Cherokee, after a long hiatus, is returning to the scene with a completely redesigned look. The larger vehicle compared to the previous generation features more technology as standard. Initially, the model’s only engine option is a hybrid system.

The 350-volt system developed by Stellantis for this vehicle combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with a dual-motor electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This full hybrid system’s 1.08 kWh battery is charged by both the engine and regenerative braking.
The hybrid system produces a total of 210 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. With this power, the new Cherokee accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. Jeep claims the vehicle offers a range of over 800 kilometers and an average fuel consumption of 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers.

The new Cherokee rides on Stellantis’ STLA Large platform. The 4.78-meter-long vehicle has a wheelbase of 2.87 meters, approximately 15 cm longer than its predecessor. The extended wheelbase provides a 30% increase in cargo volume.
The vehicle comes standard with Jeep’s Active Drive I 4×4 system. This system features rear axle disconnection. Four driving modes are also available: Automatic, Sport, Snow, and Mud/Sand. The new Cherokee offers an approach angle of 19.6 degrees and a departure angle of 29.4 degrees. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 20 cm and a landing angle of 18.8 degrees.
The new Cherokee’s design harkens back to the iconic XJ. The body, shaped with more angular and clean lines, evokes the XJ’s square headlights with U-shaped daytime running lights. The interior shares a design language similar to the Wagoneer S.
A 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch multimedia display come standard. Uconnect 5 software includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The use of a rotary gear selector creates more space in the center console.
The new Cherokee comes standard with rain-sensing wipers, automatic emergency braking, a blind spot warning system, rear park assist, and Active Driving Assist, the Level 2 autonomous driving system.
Optional equipment includes a 360-degree camera, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, a moonroof, and a hands-free tailgate.
The 2026 Jeep Cherokee goes on sale by the end of this year. The Limited and Overland trims, which will arrive in dealerships initially, will be priced at $44,490 and $47,990, respectively. The entry-level Cherokee, which will arrive later, will be priced at $38,990.
