South Korean automotive giant Kia unveiled the completely redesigned second generation of its globally acclaimed compact SUV, the Seltos, in a global online launch event. The launch, themed “Hero,” showcased the Seltos’ vision of being more than just a vehicle; it empowers users to be the protagonists in their own stories. The redesigned Seltos reinforces the brand’s design leadership and commitment to providing practicality and enhanced usability suitable for modern lifestyles.
New Kia Seltos Unveiled
Positioned as a strategically important global product, the new Seltos has been engineered from the ground up to offer drivers a more confident driving experience and smarter solutions for everyday use.

The model maintains its reputation for value and reliability in its segment, combining true SUV stance with intelligent technology and enhanced comfort, thus setting a new standard in the compact SUV category. Kia Corporation President and CEO Ho Sung Song stated that the Seltos has always represented best-in-class value, and the new generation continues this legacy with enriched features that cater to the diverse passions of customers.
The new Seltos’ exterior design embodies Kia’s “Unity of Opposites” design philosophy, reflecting its “Redneck Innovator” spirit. This philosophy harmonizes a powerful SUV stance with refined modernity. The vehicle measures 4,430 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, while its 2,690 mm wheelbase provides a spacious interior.

At the front, the widened grille and Kia’s signature star map lighting are striking, while the diagonal character lines and floating roofline create a dynamic silhouette on the sides. At the rear, the vertical taillights extending across the tailgate emphasize a sense of width and balance. The model will be available in two trim levels: the X-Line, offering a more aggressive look, and the GT-Line, highlighting a sportier aesthetic.
The vehicle’s cabin has been redesigned to meet the requirements of modern mobility. The low, horizontal instrument panel enhances visibility and a sense of openness. The Column-Type Shifting System (SBW) frees up space in the center console, while comfort features such as a panoramic sunroof and customizable ambient lighting in 64 colors stand out.
For music lovers, premium sound systems such as Harman Kardon and Bose are available. The new Seltos is built on Kia’s latest K3 platform and offers balanced and stable handling thanks to improved body rigidity and noise insulation.
Engine options offer a balanced variety to meet global market needs. The 1.6-liter T-GDI turbo petrol engine, producing 180 PS and 265 Nm of torque, is offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission. A higher-output version of the same engine, with 193 PS, is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
A fuel-efficient 2.0-liter petrol engine offering 149 PS and 179 Nm is also available. The optional all-wheel-drive system, multi-link rear suspension, and Off-Road Mode offering driving modes for snowy, muddy, and sandy surfaces enhance control in challenging conditions. In 2026, a hybrid version will join the range, featuring features such as V2L functionality for charging external devices and an intelligent regenerative braking system.
Safety is prioritized with the use of ultra-high-strength steel and advanced driver assistance systems. A range of safety technologies such as Highway Driving Assistant 2 (HDA 2), Lane Keeping Assist 2 (LFA 2), and Forward Collision Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA 2) support the driver.
In the interior, a panoramic instrument panel combining two 12.3-inch screens, an AI-powered chat assistant, and wireless (OTA) software updates enhance daily usability.
With a class-leading 536-liter (VDA) boot capacity and flexible storage options, the Seltos supports both everyday life and weekend adventures. Global production of the new Seltos will begin in India in December 2025, with launches taking place throughout 2026 in Korea, North America, Europe, and China.
