The Spartacus series, which brought the gladiator world to television and gained a large fan base, is returning to the screens with a new project after many years. The first official visuals from the sequel series, announced as Spartacus: House of Ashur, have been released. The introduction was made through Entertainment Weekly, while new details about the project have also come to light.

A new Spartacus series will be on the horizon

The focus of the new series will be Ashur, one of the remarkable characters in the original series. The series is built on an alternative reality where Ashur did not actually die in the Spartacus finale. Ashur, who helped the Roman Empire kill Spartacus, receives the gladiator school of his former master Batiatus as a reward for this service. House of Ashur will focus on the struggles experienced in the gladiator arena under the management of Ashur, the new master of this school.

In the published visuals, it is seen that the arena will be the scene not only for male but also for female gladiators. This detail indicates that the series will maintain the harsh atmosphere of the original Spartacus series while expanding the universe with new characters and dynamics.

Spartacus: House of Ashur is being prepared by Steven S. DeKnight, the creator of the first series. After taking part in projects such as Daredevil after Spartacus, DeKnight has returned to the gladiator theme. The lead role in the new series is Nick Tarabay, who also played Ashur in the original series.

The cast accompanying Tarabay includes Graham McTavish, Tenika Davis, Jamaica Vaughan, Ivana Baquero, Claudia Black, Jordi Webber, India Shaw-Smith and Leigh Gill.

The series is being prepared by the Starz channel, as in the original series. No clear release date has been announced, but according to the information shared, Spartacus: House of Ashur will meet the audience this fall. The first visuals and descriptions that have raised expectations show that a tough, political and intriguing production that will bring a new breath to the Spartacus universe is on its way.
