Xiaomi continues to expand its budget-friendly Redmi family with powerful models. After making a big splash with the K70 series, the company has accelerated its work on new models. It’s said that the upcoming Redmi K80 and K80 Pro will feature Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Gen 4 processors and a 2K display.
The Redmi K80 series will come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Gen 4 processors
According to the latest information from China, the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. Reports suggest that these models will run on either the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 or Gen 4 processors. Considering that Gen 4 hasn’t been unveiled yet, this is quite a bold move.
Smartphones in the new Redmi K series are expected to retain the 2K displays and metal frames seen in the previous Redmi K models. Xiaomi is reportedly already testing prototypes of the new K80 series, which are expected to launch by the end of the year with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Gen 4 processors.
Additionally, the device is rumored to feature an “ultra-high” capacity battery. The external design, including the 2K display, metal frame, and glass body, is expected to remain largely unchanged. Some reports also suggest that a budget-friendly Redmi K80E variant will be released later.
For comparison, the Redmi K70 featured a 6.67-inch 3200×1400 OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It boasted a triple rear camera setup led by a 50-megapixel main sensor and supported 120W fast charging with its 5000mAh battery.
The Redmi K70 Pro, on the other hand, featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, an OLED display, and a 50-megapixel main + 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera setup. The Redmi K80 series is expected to hit the market later this year.
