Paramount Pictures announced plans to revive the Star Trek franchise at an event in the US. In a statement about the future of the film series, the production, which will be released in 2025, will focus on the original story.
Star Trek movie to be released in 2025 will revive the old story
Paramount stated that the development of Star Trek 4 is continuing. On the other hand, the studio said that they will also start a new production called “Star Trek Origin Story”. The movie will reportedly be directed by Toby Haynes and produced by J.J. Abrams.
According to the details shared, it will deal with the story before Star Trek, which was released in 2009. This means that the new movie could tell the story of Starfleet and Federation in the mid-22nd century. However, details about the plot of the movie are unclear.
Paramount had shelved the Star Trek movie franchise for nearly a decade without a new project. Star Trek Beyond, the last installment of the beloved space adventure, was released in 2016. While Star Trek 4 will continue the story of this production, the newly announced production will revive the old stories.
It is possible to say that Star Trek has grown in the series world in the intervening time. Paramount+ has expanded with new series like Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks and Prodigy. The streaming giant also recently launched Star Trek: Section 31.
Although details are not yet known, “Star Trek Origin Story” shows that it can appeal to both Trek fans and newcomers
the prequel approach of the new Origin Story. With Abrams’ involvement and the popularity of the TV shows, the 2025 movie aims to bring Star Trek back to the big screen for new adventures. Fans will be keeping their eyes peeled for more casting and shooting announcements in the coming years.
