After officially launching this year with the Superman film, the DC Cinematic Universe is taking steps toward new projects that will expand the universe. One of these projects being developed by DC Studios is a series focusing on Jimmy Olsen, one of the iconic characters in Superman stories. This project, which has been in the works for some time, is now undergoing concrete development.
A Jimmy Olsen Series is Coming
DC Studios has tapped Dan Perrault and Tony Yacenda, previously known for their work on American Vandal, to develop the Jimmy Olsen series. Jimmy Olsen, who appeared as Lois Lane and Clark Kent’s colleague at the Daily Planet in the Superman film, was a major supporting character in James Gunn’s film. Olsen will also appear as a journalist in this new series.

The series will follow Olsen and his colleagues investigating cases involving individuals with superpowers. The main case, which the first season will focus on, is said to be related to Gorilla Grodd, one of the infamous villains of the Flash comics.
In the series, which will be produced by James Gunn, Skyler Gisondo will once again portray Jimmy Olsen, as she did in the Superman films. It is currently unclear which other actors will be cast besides Gisondo.
While no official announcement has been made yet, the Jimmy Olsen series is believed to be being developed for HBO Max. While more prestigious franchises like Green Lantern are presented as HBO series, lesser-known series like Peacemaker and Creature Commandos are being sent to HBO Max. It is anticipated that the Jimmy Olsen series will be one of the spin-off series to be released on the platform.
