The 69th Eurovision Song Contest final took place in Basel, Switzerland on Saturday evening, May 17. Austria won the contest, where 26 countries took the stage. JJ, representing the country, came in first place with a total of 436 points with his song “Wasted Love.”

After Swiss Nemo won last year’s Eurovision in Sweden with his song “The Code,” Switzerland hosted this year’s contest. The final night was overshadowed by more intense political debates compared to previous years. In particular, reactions to Israel’s attacks in Gaza were reflected in this year’s contest with protests. Despite this, the contest was completed as planned.

Johannes Pietsch, stage name JJ, representing Austria, won first place in the jury votes. The public vote also supported this result, and Austria won the competition with a total of 436 points. Israel came in second place with the public jury votes. Estonia came in third. Thus, Austria will host the 70th Eurovision Song Contest to be held in 2026.
