CD Projekt RED’s crown jewel and one of the best game series in history, The Witcher, continues to face turmoil in its TV adaptation. The long-awaited fourth season of the show has been hit with more bad news. Here’s what you need to know and the latest updates!
The Witcher is losing more cast members
The Witcher series is experiencing another major change. According to Redanian Intelligence, Kim Bodnia, who plays Vesemir, is set to leave the series, and the production is reportedly searching for a new actor to take on the role.
This news has caused a shock among the show’s fanbase. Since filming has been ongoing for quite some time, this departure could potentially disrupt the entire production process.
Vesemir is known as a significant character in The Witcher universe. As Geralt of Rivia’s mentor and the oldest witcher from the School of the Wolf, Vesemir plays a crucial role. His backstory was explored in detail in the animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
This marks the second major casting change after Liam Hemsworth replaced Henry Cavill as Geralt. While some fans have reacted negatively to these changes, others have welcomed the fresh direction. Some social media comments also suggest that Bodnia’s portrayal of Vesemir didn’t fully capture the energy of the character from the books and games.
For the fourth season, Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), and Joey Batey (Jaskier) are all set to return. According to Netflix, The Witcher will conclude after its fifth season. The release date for the new season has yet to be announced.
