Following the rise of thinness-focused smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge and iPhone Air, Xiaomi is also launching an ultra-thin model. The company plans to release its new smartphone, the Xiaomi 17 Air, before the end of this year.
The Xiaomi 17 Air is on the horizon
Sources indicate that while it hasn’t fully captured the expected consumer interest, these high-priced devices are pushing other manufacturers to join the trend.

Technical details of the Xiaomi 17 Air are already emerging. The phone is eye-catching at just 6mm thick. It features a 6.6-inch 1.5K resolution display. Its camera features a 200MP main camera. Importantly, the Xiaomi 17 Air is rumored to come with eSIM support only.
With Xiaomi joining the ultra-thin phone category, which has shifted the balance with the launch of the iPhone Air, market competition is intensifying. Sources report that a leading Chinese manufacturer, not named in addition to Xiaomi, will soon launch another ultra-thin smartphone.
This brings the number of ultra-thin models available to consumers to four. It’s already becoming a matter of curiosity what solutions they will offer to address the common drawbacks of these devices: short battery life and high prices.
