Amazon Prime Video recently released the remake of the 1980s cult classic Road House. Starring Conor McGregor and Jake Gyllenhaal, the movie became the most watched movie on Prime Video in its first two weeks.
Amazon Prime Video rocks with Road House
According to figures released by Prime Video, Road House has reached 50 million views since its premiere on March 21. This figure represents a new milestone, surpassing all previous Amazon movies.
Amazon MGM Studio President Jennifer Salke said in a statement that the first two weeks of the movie have been very successful. She thanked the entire cast and crew, especially Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor. However, she did not thank director Doug Liman, who criticized Amazon for breaking its promises to release the film.
Road House tells the story of a former UFC fighter. The main character, Dalton, starts working in a diner and discovers that it is not what it seems. He is then dragged into a non-stop adventure.
The success of the movie is noteworthy considering the reviews it received from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently has a 59 percent rating from critics and 54 percent from viewers. It also has a score of 6.2 on IMDb.
However, the number of viewers seems to be quite successful according to the movie’s comments. Users sharing on platforms like Reddit said that the movie was quite entertaining.
