Every day, TikTok continues to announce YouTube-like features. The platform, which is preparing to become a competitor to YouTube, now wants to offer longer videos. Typically, TikTok allows users to upload 1-minute videos, but in recent months, it introduced a 15-minute video upload feature. The new feature, revealed by some sources, is the TikTok 60-minute video feature. Here are the details…
TikTok to allow 60-minute video uploads
TikTok’s desire to become like YouTube is unending, and following the 15-minute video feature, it has now started testing the 60-minute video feature. This feature, still in the testing phase, has been made available to a limited number of users in selected countries. The company, which wants to continue testing for a while, is not expected to roll out this feature to all users anytime soon.
Instead of consuming short videos, TikTok now wants to keep users on the app longer by extending the video duration to up to 60 minutes, allowing for the sharing of new types of content. Users who have access to this feature received the following update:
“Upload longer videos
Upload videos up to 60 minutes long! Make sure your app is up to date, then try uploading from the app or desktop website.”
While TikTok has been in the news in many countries due to security concerns, it will now allow longer videos with this new feature. This will make it possible to upload full-length videos such as cooking, beauty tutorials, educational content, and more.
Another reason for this feature could be to allow the posting of full episodes of shows. Last year, Peacock tried to post an episode on TikTok but had to do so in five parts. Additionally, a horizontal full-screen mode is also being tested with this feature.
