Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the Turksat 6A satellite will be fully operational in February. Launched into space in July 2024, Turksat 6A successfully completed its predetermined journey and settled into orbit at 42 degrees East. The process of settling into this orbit was technically quite complex, and all stages were successfully completed and data transmission between Turkey and the satellite was successfully completed. Türksat 6A draws attention as a satellite that reflects Turkey’s domestic production power and has features that will provide significant prestige worldwide.
Turksat 6A will officially enter service in February
The ratio of domestic technologies used in the production of Turksat 6A is over 80 percent. This rate stands out as a development that contributes greatly to Turkey’s independence goals in the field of space. Thanks to its wide coverage area, the satellite will be able to broadcast not only to Turkey, but also to a large region including Asian countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.
This will allow Türksat to reach a much wider population than existing satellites, thus significantly expanding its current broadcasting area. Currently, Türksat satellites reach a population of 3.5 billion, while with Türksat 6A this number will reach 4.5 billion.
Turksat 6A offers a significant innovation for TV broadcasting. The satellite will be equipped with 20 Ku-Band transmitters, which will enable the broadcasting of many more channels. Ku-Band technology is one of the most efficient methods for transmitting high-quality television broadcasts, and Turksat 6A will make the best use of this technology. Another important development is that Turksat 6A will increase Turkey’s Ku-Band capacity by 528 MHz, bringing the total capacity to 6,668 MHz. This increase will pave the way for better quality service by offering a much wider spectrum, especially in high-definition television broadcasts and data transmission.
