The Turkish defense industry has surpassed another significant milestone in naval platforms. Machinery and Chemical Industry Inc. (MKE) has completed the first naval gun export in Turkey’s history under a contract with the Indonesian Naval Forces. This export, announced at the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul, highlighted the progress made by domestic defense production.
Turkey Conducts First Naval Gun Export
Under the contract, Indonesia is supplying three Denizhan Naval Guns for three ships in its navy. The procurement process is being carried out in collaboration between Indonesia-based defense company Republikorp and MKE. The system being sold is the most advanced naval gun platform developed by Turkey to date.
Developed in a 76/62 mm caliber, the Denizhan Naval Gun provides effective engagement against both surface and air targets with a high rate of fire of up to 80 rounds per minute. The system was produced entirely domestically. Its range extends to approximately 16 kilometers and can be extended to 20 kilometers with extended-range munitions. The system can operate in fully automatic, semi-automatic, and manual modes.
The weapon system operates in integration with domestic fire control systems developed by ASELSAN. Working in full harmony with the shipboard combat management systems, the gun can achieve high hit rates even against targets with low radar signatures thanks to its electro-optical target detection systems.
Denizhan was developed within the scope of defense industry projects led by the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey. The system, which has been integrated onto various naval platforms, particularly the MİLGEM class, is actively used by the Turkish Naval Forces. Having completed five different deliveries to date, the Denizhan system will be deployed abroad for the first time with this export.
This sale, carried out with the support of the Presidency of Defense Industries, was also one of the most notable developments announced at IDEF 2025. In addition to land and air vehicles, the Turkish defense industry is now participating in global competition on naval platforms.
