Although many people predict that Twitter is a free social media platform, there is a paid version. The company is increasing Twitter Blue’s subscription price from $2.99 to $4.99 per month in the U.S. With the rise, existing subscribers will have to pay more starting in October. However, new users now pay the hiked price. Here are all the details.
Twitter Blue Subscription price increased
In February, Twitter announced that the company was working on a new feature for businesses and users. Then, Twitter launched a paid-subscription system called Twitter Blue. After a long time, the platform raised its price by about sixty-six percent.
Besides the U.S., prices also changed in other countries like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. Users will pay 6.99 AUD (previously 4.49 AUD) in Australia, 6.49 CAD (previously 3.49 CAD) in Canada, and 6.49 NZD (previously 4.49 NZD) in New Zealand.
Twitter sent emails to the Twitter Blue users about the price increase over the last few days. The company wrote, “This change helps us continue to build some of the features you’ve been asking for, improve upon the current ones you already love, and sustain our mission of supporting journalism.”
What’s the point of Twitter Blue?
According to the official introduction, “Twitter Blue is a monthly subscription that gives our most loyal customers exclusive access to premium features and app customizations for a small fee.” You can subscribe by paying $4.99 per month.
Twitter Blue provides users some features like “undo send” that you can fix a tweet whenever you want, customized icons and navigation bar, the ability to change your profile picture to an NFT, ad-free articles within the Twitter Blue Publisher network, and access to top articles shared by your network. With these features, you will have more opportunities than the free version.
