Rayman is officially 30 years old, and Ubisoft is kicking off a month-long celebration of its iconic platforming mascot. While the festivities include retrospectives and rare behind-the-scenes content, fans hoping for a big announcement will need to stay patient.
Rayman anniversary content will span the next month

As part of the anniversary campaign, Ubisoft will release a steady stream of content throughout September. This includes developer interviews, anecdotes, concept art, and other behind-the-scenes material. The goal is to revisit Rayman’s history in full.
The celebration covers everything from his pixel-perfect 2D beginnings to his evolution into a fully 3D character.
The original one launched in 1995. It was later ported to systems like the Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance. The franchise eventually moved into 3D with Rayman 2: The Great Escape on the Nintendo 64.
In the 2010s, it returned to his 2D roots with Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, both widely praised by fans and critics.
New project confirmed, but don’t expect it soon
Ubisoft Brand Producer Loïc Gounon has once again confirmed that a new Rayman project is in development. According to Gounon, the game is being handled by teams at Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, and he reassures fans that “It is in good hands.”
However, Gounon cautioned that news won’t arrive too soon, suggesting a reveal is still a way off. This aligns with earlier reports, including job listings spotted in May, which hinted at Ubisoft’s efforts to revive the Rayman brand.
Composer shares a musical throwback
To mark the anniversary, Christophe Héral, composer and music advisor for Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends, also appeared in a recent video update. He performed a short piece from the franchise’s soundtrack, adding a nostalgic touch to the celebration.
While it may be a quiet birthday in terms of big reveals, Ubisoft’s renewed focus on Rayman signals a clear intent to bring the character back in a meaningful way. Fans will just need to hold out a bit longer before seeing what’s next.
