Ubisoft has announced that it will establish a new subsidiary focusing on the Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six series. As part of the new structure, an investment of exactly 1.25 billion dollars will be received from China-based technology giant Tencent.
Ubisoft is officially restructuring
The new subsidiary aims to create a more result-oriented and efficient working environment by bringing together the teams working in Ubisoft’s studios in Montreal, Quebec, Sherbrooke, Saguenay, Barcelona and Sofia.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that this move is a very important step in the company’s restructuring process. The company, which has experienced financial difficulties in recent years and has not achieved the expected success, has implemented layoffs and savings measures in order to reduce costs.
It has long been known that the company is open to partnership talks with Tencent. Therefore, this investment is considered an important turning point in Ubisoft’s transformation strategy. However, the new subsidiary will not be limited to online or free-to-play projects.
In this context, it was announced that single-player and story-focused gaming experiences will be prioritized. Long-standing series such as Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry will continue to maintain their traditional storytelling-based game structure.
The recent rapid growth of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows to 3 million players was seen as a glimmer of hope in Ubisoft’s recovery process. However, the company will need time to regain market confidence. So what do you think about this?
