Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch its Galaxy S27 series in 2027, and the first details have started to surface. The latest developments reveal a critical detail about the high-end Ultra model in the lineup.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Might Not Come with an S Pen
Samsung may be planning to remove one of its iconic features, the S Pen, from the Ultra series. According to information shared by Setsuna Digital, the Galaxy S27 Ultra — expected to be introduced in early 2027 — might not feature a built-in S Pen. The source claims there are logical reasons behind this decision from the South Korean tech giant.

According to the report, Samsung is considering removing the integrated S Pen slot to make room for hardware improvements like a larger battery or enhanced cooling. If this happens, the Galaxy S27 Ultra will either exclude the S Pen entirely or offer it as an external accessory, similar to the Galaxy S21 Ultra.
And that’s not all — there are other signs that Samsung is stepping back from its S Pen strategy. Reports from @PandaFlashPro indicate that the company is compromising on certain features due to internal space management. For instance, the Galaxy S25 Ultra launched without certain S Pen features like Bluetooth Air Actions. Similarly, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is rumored to skip some S Pen functionalities in favor of a slimmer design.
It’s reported that the Galaxy S26 Ultra will still include a built-in S Pen, but this could change with the S27 Ultra. Overall, it seems Samsung is shifting its S Pen focus from smartphones to tablets.
