Valve, one of the gaming world’s most important companies, is achieving a remarkable level of efficiency. Recent analyses show that Valve has surpassed its giant tech rivals in revenue per employee. The company manages to run a billion-dollar empire with a relatively small number of employees.
What is Valve’s revenue per employee?
According to research by Alinea Analytics, Steam has already generated over $16 billion in revenue by 2025. This figure is expected to reach $17 billion by the end of the year. Net profit is estimated to be around $4 billion.

The most striking detail in these figures is the number of employees. The company, estimated to have approximately 350 employees, generates a gross revenue of almost $50 million per employee. While Valve, being a private company, doesn’t release official figures, leaked data and lawsuits confirm this.
The company’s future looks just as bright as its current one. In addition to the Deadlock game, which has yet to be released, three new hardware announcements for 2026 have generated excitement. These new products take the company’s past hardware experience a step further.
The new Steam Controller, unlike the original design from 2015, features two analog sticks and two touchpads. A new Steam Machine is also on the way, closer to the GameCube than the Xbox 360 design. Finally, the Steam Frame, a wireless VR headset to rival the Meta Quest series, awaits virtual reality enthusiasts.
