The much-anticipated news from vivo has arrived. OriginOS 6, the brand’s new Android 16-based interface, is launching globally. Limited to China for years and eagerly awaited by users, this interface will retire FuntouchOS internationally. Here’s OriginOS’s global launch date and expected innovations.
OriginOS 6 is coming with new features
Chinese tech giant vivo announced that it will hold its highly anticipated OriginOS Global launch on October 15th. Important details, such as the new interface’s rollout plan for international markets and the devices it will be available on and when, are expected to be shared at this event. OriginOS 6 will be unveiled in China on October 10th, just five days before its global launch.

vivo and iQOO users have long been demanding OriginOS in the global market, which is said to offer deeper customization options and run smoother than FuntouchOS. This move demonstrates that the company is meeting user expectations.
vivo states that OriginOS 6 is not just a cosmetic update; it is a fundamental redesign of the Android core system. The focus of this major overhaul is as follows:
- Performance Improvement: Significantly improving computing performance.
- Display Improvement: Improving image processing and display quality.
- Optimization: Maximizing memory management.
OriginOS 6 will also bring innovations such as smoother transitions, faster file sharing, brand-new artificial intelligence (AI) features, and a modern, translucent user interface.
The first smartphones to ship with OriginOS 6 out of the box will be vivo’s new flagship series, the vivo X300 and X300 Pro. These devices will launch in China on October 13th and are expected to be available globally by the end of the year.
Whether the global OriginOS version will have the same features as the Chinese version or will include differences for international users will become clear at the launch on October 15th. All eyes are already on the China launch on October 10th.
