Automotive giant Volkswagen continues to expand its electric vehicle family. The company unveiled its new concept model, the ID Cross, at the IAA Mobility 2025 trade fair in Munich. With a starting price of approximately €30,000, this model, which will hit the roads in 2026, will be the brand’s most affordable electric SUV.

The ID Cross is positioned as the electric counterpart to the internal combustion-engine T-Cross. Essentially an upgraded version of the new ID Polo, the vehicle is described as a five-seat SUV suitable for urban use and long-distance driving. The model measures 4,161 mm in length, 1,839 mm in width, and 1,588 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,601 mm, very similar to the gasoline-powered T-Cross.

The ID Cross’s design features a striking 3D light signature at the front that evokes a smile. The vehicle’s C-pillars, inspired by the ID Buzz, are also among the highlights of the body design.
The interior is virtually identical to the ID Polo. Light-toned fabric upholstery throughout the cabin creates a spacious feel. The console features an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch touchscreen. Physical controls are kept to a minimum.
The model offers a 450-liter trunk. There’s also a small 25-liter “frunk” (front trunk) under the hood. Volkswagen states that all seats fold flat to create a fully functional floor.
Using the MEB Entry platform, the ID Cross features a front-mounted 208-horsepower electric motor, sending power to the front wheels. The SUV, with a top speed of 175 km/h, offers a range of up to 420 kilometers on a single charge.
The production version of the ID Cross will be unveiled next summer. It will be produced alongside the Skoda Epiq at Volkswagen’s Pamplona plant in Spain. Volkswagen has decided to use familiar model names for its electric vehicles, moving away from the numerical system that begins with ID.3. This new naming strategy positions the ID Cross more clearly as the electric version of the T-Cross.
