Volkswagen Unveils New ID. Era 5X Electric SUV
SAIC-Volkswagen, a joint venture operating in China, has officially introduced its latest electric SUV model, the Volkswagen ID. Era 5X, which was recently listed in the official vehicle catalog published by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. As the inaugural member of the brand’s new ID. Era family, this vehicle marks a significant strategic shift by utilizing the Compact Main Platform (CMP) architecture developed in collaboration with Xpeng. Designed to integrate seamlessly into the competitive Chinese automotive landscape, the ID. Era 5X represents Volkswagen’s commitment to leveraging local technological partnerships to accelerate its electrification efforts and modernize its product lineup for global consumers.

In terms of physical dimensions, the SUV measures 4,560 mm in length, 1,896 mm in width, and 1,630 mm in height. The wheelbase, which spans 2,815 mm, ensures a spacious interior cabin. Prospective buyers will have access to a variety of customization options, including alloy wheels ranging from 17 to 19 inches and an optional panoramic glass roof to increase interior brightness.
Technology Features Power the Driving Experience
Volkswagen has prioritized smart integration within the ID. Era 5X to compete with modern tech-heavy vehicles. The SUV comes equipped with a next-generation LiDAR sensor and the proprietary Xingyun intelligent driving assistance system.
