Today, Warner Bros. Discovery announced its combination of HBO Max, Discovery+, and other platforms into one streaming service, Max. According to the official announcement, the new platform will include more than 1,000 films and episodes in 4K UHD and an increase of nearly 8x more than HBO Max. Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max will not affect existing users
In the press release, we can see that the company will introduce a new Ad-Free tier at launch, which will offer four concurrent streams, up to 100 offline downloads, 8x more films and episodes of 4K UHD content than HBO Max, including Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, Harry Potter, and more. While the new users will pay $19.99 per month or $199.99 for all content. However, existing HBO Max subscribers won’t be affected by new plans for a minimum of six months following the launch.
Warner Bros Discovery explains on its official website, “On May 23, a large portion of HBO Max subscribers will have their apps automatically updated, while others will be prompted to download the updated Max app. HBO Max subscribers will have their previous plan, profiles, avatars, settings, “Continue Watching” and “My List” items waiting for them to stream on Max.”

- Max Ultimate Ad Free: $19.99/month or $199.99/year. Includes 4 concurrent streams, up to 4K UHD resolution, 100 offline downloads, and Dolby Atmos sound quality
