Meta has begun testing the highly anticipated official WhatsApp Apple Watch app. The app is currently being tested with a limited user base through TestFlight. This development will completely transform the messaging experience for watch owners.
What will the WhatsApp Apple Watch app offer?
Currently, Apple Watch users were only able to use WhatsApp in a limited way through incoming notifications. However, with this new app, users will be able to read and send messages directly from their watch. This will significantly reduce their reliance on the iPhone.

It is not yet clear when the official app will be available to all users. Meta will make the app generally available after the successful completion of the TestFlight process.
WhatsApp has also launched a password-free era for chat backups. This feature, called “passkeys,” makes protecting backups much easier than before.
Users will no longer have to remember complex 64-digit encryption keys. Instead, they can securely encrypt their backups using their fingerprint, facial recognition, or screen lock code. This feature will be gradually rolled out to everyone in the coming months.
