WhatsApp makes it easier to transfer community ownership
WhatsApp started testing the ability to transfer channel ownership a few months ago. Now it’s extending this functionality to communities, and it’s been spotted in the Android 2.24.11.18 beta update.
Discovered by WABetaInfo, this new feature indicates that WhatsApp will offer the ability to delegate main admin privileges and tasks in communities to another member.
When an admin decides to delegate community ownership, they will have to agree to hand over their privileges and responsibilities for any group chat in the community. The admin who relinquishes ownership will retain their admin status even if they are removed from the community by the new owner.
As this feature is still under development, it is not known when it will be generally available. But when it does, it will simplify the ownership transfer process for people who need to step down due to time constraints or other reasons.

This wasn’t the only new feature to appear this week. WhatsApp is also working on a feature that will allow users to clear the number of unread messages when they open the app. This will be especially useful for users with heavy messaging traffic.
