You can now make video calls with up to 32 participants simultaneously. Previously, this limit was 32 participants only for mobile devices, while Windows and macOS users were limited to 16 and 8 participants, respectively. With this expanded participation feature, it will be much easier to get together with large family gatherings or large groups of friends.

Among the new features with the WhatsApp update is an automatic speaker highlighting feature. Additionally, WhatsApp’s parent company Meta has introduced the new Meta Low Bitrate (MLow) codec. This codec provides high-quality audio even on low network connections. Offering twice the audio quality compared to the previously used Opus codec while consuming 10% less processor power, this new codec was already being used in Instagram and Messenger calls.
