WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called “Enhanced Chat Privacy” as of April 24, 2025. This feature prevents messages in individual and group chats from being transferred outside the application. In addition, the automatic downloading of media content shared in the chat to devices can be completely disabled.
WhatsApp further increases chat privacy
When the Enhanced Chat Privacy feature is activated; users cannot transfer their chat history to platforms such as e-mail, other messaging applications or notes. Thus, it can easily prevent photos and videos sent from being automatically saved to the phone.

This creates a layer of protection to prevent unintentional sharing or saving of correspondence made in groups with strangers, especially in groups with strangers. The feature also cancels Meta’s artificial intelligence services’ access to chat content.
The new privacy setting does not currently restrict taking screenshots or users from manually downloading media files. However, Meta stated that more comprehensive security measures will be offered with future updates.
To enable the Advanced Chat Privacy setting, simply tap on the chat name from the chat screen and then select the “Advanced Chat Privacy” menu. Users with the latest version of WhatsApp have gradually started to access this feature.
It is said that it may take a few weeks for the new feature to reach all users worldwide. So what do you think about this? You can easily share your views with us in the comments section below.
