WhatsApp is testing a feature that will make it easier to add new participants to group chats. From now on, when you create a new group, you will automatically see the phrase “Add a participant”. This will make it simpler to add people from your contacts to a group.
How the “Add Participant” Shortcut Works in WhatsApp?
In the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android (v2.23.16.10), new features for group chats were noticed. Accordingly, the “Add Participant” title at the top of the screen attracted attention. This shortcut will allow you to add participants to the group with a single tap, eliminating the need to navigate multiple menus.
Currently, to add someone new to the group, you have to open the menu from the three-dot button, select Group Info and then tap Add Participant. This can be a lot of work, especially when you’re setting up a new group. The new shortcut simplifies the process considerably.
Since the feature is currently in beta, it doesn’t appear in all groups. Therefore, it is unclear whether the shortcut will only appear in newly created groups or also in old chats. However, we think it will be more useful for new groups.
The “Add Participant” banner is currently in beta testing, so it’s not yet available in the stable version. But after initial testing, it seems likely that WhatsApp will roll out the feature to all users soon.
Although a small change, the new shortcut will improve the user experience and make group messaging more accessible. It will also make it possible to create larger groups.
