WhatsApp has officially commenced the development of a new ‘view-once’ feature for text messages on the Android platform, aiming to bolster user privacy. This upcoming functionality, currently being integrated into the application’s core infrastructure, allows users to send messages that vanish automatically after the recipient views them. By preventing recipients from copying, forwarding, or saving the content, WhatsApp intends to provide a higher level of digital security for standard text communication. While the feature is still in the early stages of development and has not yet reached public beta testers, it represents a significant expansion of the privacy standards previously reserved for media files.
