WhatsApp, the popular messaging application, announced that it will not offer support for some phone models as of 1 October 2024. According to the statement made by Meta, this will affect both Android and iPhone users.
Goodbye time for WhatsApp on the iPhone 5 front!
WhatsApp stated that a total of 19 different devices will be unsupported due to the inability of older devices to meet new software requirements. Users need to update their devices or switch to a new compatible model in order to continue using the application after this date.
Among the phone models that WhatsApp will no longer work, there are especially noteworthy iPhone models. 1st generation iPhone SE, iPhone 5, 5C, 6 and 6 Plus will not be able to benefit from WhatsApp support because they are not compatible with new software updates. This means a significant change for users, as many people are still actively using these models.
On the Android side, many models belonging to brands such as Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, Sony and Motorola will also be out of support. In addition to Samsung’s models such as Galaxy Ace Plus, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Express 2, Huawei’s Ascend P6 S and Ascend Y625 will not be able to use WhatsApp. In addition, phones such as Lenovo A820, Sony Xperia Z1 and Motorola Moto G are also on the list.
