Fortnite and Paramount deal: SpongeBob and more on the way
With the release of The Simpsons mini-season in early November, the game added “Sidekicks,” or “Sidekicks,” to the game. This feature involves small, helpful creatures, or minions, that follow players around. Prominent Fortnite leaker SamLeakss has suggested that many Paramount characters will be added to the game as Sidekicks. Data miners have previously found evidence of a SpongeBob collaboration.
No official announcement has yet been made regarding which characters or series will be included in the game. However, Paramount’s portfolio includes major brands like Nickelodeon and Comedy Central. Possible candidates include major franchises like SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and South Park. However, the addition of series that appeal to a much younger age group, such as Dora and Paw Patrol, is unlikely because they don’t fit the dynamics of Fortnite.
Another major fan expectation is to see a real Sonic costume. Since the publishing rights for the Sonic the Hedgehog films are one of Paramount’s largest brands, this possibility seems quite strong. In a collaboration earlier this year, the cosmetics were primarily designed for Rocket League, and only Sonic-themed items were introduced to Fortnite, rather than a full costume.
