Will Chris Evans Return as Captain America?
Marvel fans have been asking the same question for years: Will Chris Evans return to the role of Captain America? Recently, with Benedict Cumberbatch’s statements about the Avengers: Doomsday movie, new speculations arose in the Marvel universe, reigniting rumors about Evans’ return. However, the famous actor has firmly responded to these claims.
Has Chris Evans Truly Said Goodbye to the MCU?
In an interview with Esquire magazine, Chris Evans once again denied the possibility of returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The actor mentioned that he is often asked the same questions about his return since Endgame. He said, “This always happens. I mean, every few years… It’s been like this since Endgame. I’ve stopped answering them.” He added, “I retired happily.”

These statements clearly reject the rumors of Evans’ return to the MCU, but fans still hold onto hope. In a 2023 interview, Evans had used the phrase “never say never” and had referred to the Captain America role as “very special” to him. Additionally, fans had held onto hope after his brief return to the Marvel universe last year in Deadpool & Wolverine, where he played Johnny Storm.
These comments come amid rumors about the Avengers: Doomsday movie. The future of the Marvel universe remains a big mystery, with many theories already being discussed for the film, set to release in 2026. Claims about the Russo Brothers returning to the MCU and Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom have been making headlines, but whether Chris Evans will make a surprise return remains uncertain.
Even though Evans has stated that he’s retired and has no intention of returning, we should remember that Marvel is great at keeping big surprises under wraps. So, do you think Chris Evans will appear in Avengers: Doomsday in some way? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments!
