Hogwarts Legacy, the open world RPG game that locked Harry Potter fans to the screen, was a success beyond expectations. Warner Bros. Games is working on Hogwarts Legacy 2 and new content to continue this success. Renowned game journalist Jason Schreier announced in a podcast that Hogwarts Legacy 2 will not be in online service format and will offer a completely single player experience. He also said that Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition is being developed and that new DLC content is on the way with this version. So when is it coming?
Hogwarts Legacy 2 will not be an online service game! New DLCs are on the way
If you remember, the first game of Hogwarts Legacy attracted great attention because it offered a completely single-player open world experience and did not contain microtransactions. However, Warner Bros.’s recent shift towards online service games worried the players. Schreier emphasised that Hogwarts Legacy 2 will be a completely story-driven and single-player experience, just like the first game.

In fact, it is thought that the negative reactions Warner Bros. received in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League were effective in this decision. The Suicide Squad game, which included an online service model, was heavily criticised and did not reach the expected sales figures. Therefore, the company has preferred to keep Hogwarts Legacy 2 away from this model and maintain a single-player structure.
On the other hand, Warner Bros. is also working on the Hogwarts Legacy Definitive Edition to support the game’s long-term success. The special edition will include all updates to the original game and will likely be available with additional content. However, it is not yet clear whether there will be a new story-orientated DLC.
According to some rumours, the Definitive Edition may include a few new quests and perhaps an additional magic system. However, Warner Bros. has not yet announced whether this new content will be free or a paid DLC pack. There is currently no release date for Hogwarts Legacy 2, but we expect Warner Bros. to continue developing the game for at least a few more years.
