The giant social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) has decided to open a representative office in Turkey in order to strengthen its presence in the country. According to the statement of the Minister of Transportation Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, it was stated that the platform could face band throttling penalties if it did not appoint a representative.
X officially launches its representative office in Turkey
According to the information provided by Uraloğlu, this step, which was taken to ensure communication channels in Turkey and to fulfill legal requirements, has been expected for a long time. Previously, the platform was banned from advertising in Turkey and sanctions such as band throttling penalties were brought to the agenda. However, with X’s decision to open a representative office, this situation will be overcome.
In his statement, Minister Uraloğlu shared details about X’s representation process in Turkey. He stated that they are in contact with the platform, although the representative appointment has not yet taken place.
With social media platform X opening a representative office in Turkey, users and other stakeholders in Turkey are expected to play a more direct role in communicating with the platform. It is also expected that the platform will comply with legal requirements in Turkey and conduct its activities in the country in a more transparent manner.
How this step will affect the platform’s interaction and user base in Turkey will become clear in the coming days. What do you think? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments section below.
