Launched in 2005 and opening the door to an important era in the gaming world, the Xbox 360 received an unexpected software update as it approaches its 20th anniversary. Microsoft updated the interface of the console, which had not received any innovations for a long time. The update, which includes minor but striking changes in terms of visuals, was recorded as a very unusual move for an old device.
Xbox 360 is getting a significant update
One of the most common complaints by users, the disproportion in cover images, has been resolved. In the new interface, game and application covers are shown in their natural proportions, not stretched or cropped.

This change means that details that have been disrupting visual integrity for a long time are eliminated. Thus, Microsoft has made an aesthetic update to a console that was released nearly twenty years ago.
However, it turned out that this update was not limited to just a visual improvement. Some users sharing on social media reported that advertising panels for the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles have started to appear in the Xbox 360 interface.
These panels include statements emphasizing the performance of the new generation consoles. QR codes have also been added to these boards that direct users to the store. These images, which call for “Upgrade today,” are intended to direct existing users to new systems.
The Xbox 360 has earned a solid place in gaming history with over 84 million sales. Microsoft has kept the console’s store infrastructure open for 19 years. This latest update shows that even though official support has ended, the Xbox 360 has not been completely forgotten and certain plans are still ongoing.
