The PlayStation platform’s top-selling games for the second quarter of 2025 have been revealed. Circana, a market research firm that shares data for the US market, revealed a striking picture. Six of the top 10 games were developed by Microsoft’s Xbox studios. Sony, however, only made the list with one exclusive title for its own platform.
Xbox titles dominate PlayStation
Topping the list is FromSoftware’s Elden Ring: Nightreign. Microsoft’s racing game Forza Horizon 5 comes in second, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Remastered, developed by Bethesda, also part of Xbox, comes in third.

Next up on the list are Black Ops 6, the newest installment in Microsoft’s Call of Duty series; DOOM: The Dark Ages, another Bethesda title; and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, developed by MachineGames.
The only exclusive title from Sony to make the list is Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. This game, whose first game was developed by Kojima Productions, continues its collaboration with Sony in its second installment, making it the only PlayStation exclusive to make the list this quarter.
The rest of the list includes Minecraft, another Microsoft title developed by Mojang; Ubisoft’s open-world RPG Assassin’s Creed: Shadows; and MLB: The Show 25, a Sony-Major League Baseball collaboration.
The full list is as follows:
- Elden Ring: Nightreign
- Forza Horizon 5 (Xbox)
- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: Remastered (Xbox)
- MLB: The Show 25
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 (Xbox)
- DOOM: The Dark Ages (Xbox)
- Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (Sony)
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (Xbox)
- Minecraft
- Assassin’s Creed: Shadows
Microsoft’s recent acceleration of its multi-platform strategy isn’t limited to theoretical explanations. The fact that games developed under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella are also sold on the PlayStation platform indicates that this strategy is directly reflected in sales figures.
The fact that games like Forza Horizon 5 and Oblivion: Remastered, following Elden Ring, ranked in the top three shows that traditional console competition is shifting.
One of the biggest factors behind these sales successes is the expanded reach offered by Xbox Game Pass’s cross-console integration. Furthermore, the ability of major franchises like Call of Duty and Minecraft to maintain their multi-platform presence provides Microsoft with advantages in terms of both revenue and user reach.
