Microsoft has partnered with LG to bring Xbox to cars. Thanks to a new Xbox app running through LG’s Automotive Content Platform (ACP), Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to play games directly from the cloud on their vehicle screens.
Xbox to be launched in cars
The first fruit of this collaboration will be seen in the Kia EV3. The Xbox app aims to provide entertainment for passengers, particularly when electric vehicles are charging or on long journeys.
LG’s ACP system is currently used in the Kia EV3 in Europe and will soon be available on the EV4, EV5, and the new Sportage models. ACP is based on the webOS operating system in LG smart TVs and provides access to a wide range of content platforms, including Netflix, Disney Plus, and YouTube.
Microsoft brought the Xbox app to LG smart TVs earlier this year. Its expansion into cars comes as the company prepares to expand its Xbox Cloud Gaming service to Game Pass Core and Standard subscription plans.
Microsoft also announced its return to the Tokyo Game Show this month. Forza Horizon 6 is expected to be unveiled at the Xbox broadcast on September 25th at 1:00 PM Turkish time. The neon-lit cityscape in the image shared for the event suggests the new Forza game may be set in Japan.
