Microsoft has announced the second Xbox console price increase in just six months. Citing “changes in the macroeconomic environment,” these increases will take effect in the United States starting October 3rd.
Xbox prices and details of the price increases
The new price list, effective October, is as follows:
- Series S 512GB: $379.99 to $399.99
- Series S 1TB: $429.99 to $449.99
- Series X Digital: $549.99 to $599.99
- Series X: $599.99 to $649.99
- Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition: $729.99 to $799.99

With these price increases, the price of the Xbox Series X console has increased by a total of $150 since the initial price increase in May. The special edition Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black has seen a total price increase of $200 since its $599.99 price on April 30th.
Other Markets and Competitors
Microsoft stated that Xbox console prices will remain the same in markets outside the US. Prices for Xbox controllers and headsets will also remain unchanged.
This price increase follows similar moves by rival companies. Sony previously raised the price of the PlayStation 5 by $50. Nintendo also announced a price increase for its Switch 2 console and Joy-Con 2 controllers in August.
Experts believe that one of the main reasons for these price increases may be the tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump on products imported from China, Vietnam, and India. These tariffs are believed to have increased companies’ costs, causing them to pass these increases directly onto consumers.
