The countdown has begun for the highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 series, which Xiaomi will launch directly, skipping the 16 series to compete with Apple. Ahead of its launch, expected this month, critical details about the camera capabilities of the Xiaomi 17 Pro, one of the series’ most ambitious models, have been leaked from China. The information suggests Xiaomi will take its photography ambitions to the next level.
The Xiaomi 17 Pro will stand out with its camera features
According to the leaks, the Xiaomi 17 Pro will feature a powerful triple-camera setup on the back, also from Leica. The phone will reportedly feature a 50MP main camera with a very wide aperture of f/1.67. This wide aperture will enable brighter and clearer photos, especially in low-light conditions.

However, the real highlight is the telephoto camera, which offers a 115mm focal length and f/3.0 aperture. These specifications mean the phone will have a lossless 5x optical zoom. This feature will make the Xiaomi 17 Pro highly capable of capturing distant objects clearly. A 17mm ultra-wide-angle camera will complete the system.
One of the most intriguing pieces of information in the leak is the claim that the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max will have a different camera setup than the Pro. This suggests that Xiaomi will move away from its “same phone, different size” strategy and instead create hardware differences between the Pro and Pro Max models, such as camera capabilities. Thus, the Pro Max will aim for the ultimate in photography, offering not only a larger screen and battery but also a likely more advanced camera system.
Meanwhile, the standard Xiaomi 17 model is expected to be similar in size to the Pro (previous leaks indicated a 6.3-inch screen) but with a more modest camera setup.
The Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max are expected to be officially unveiled at the end of this month. This new information clearly reveals how much the company is focusing on camera performance and how it has begun to separate its product line with more clear lines.
